The drive shaft comprises a fibre reinforced plastics tube (2) with a joint (3,4) connected to at least one end of it. The tube has a cylindrical sector (9), into which a cylindrical end sector of the joint is pressed to fit. There is also an intermediate tube sector (7) with a narrowing inner circumferential surface (7a), widening out at the larger end to the connecting end of an inner circumferential surface of the cylindrical end sector. It is wound into a helix.
