The present invention is a system and method for oxidation of volatile organic compounds which are stored or held in a suitable storage structure such as an accumulation tank (50). The volatile organic compound stored in the accumulation tank is taken into the intake port (22) of an operating internal combustion engine (20) wherein the operating and internal combustion engine reduces the volatile organic compounds into carbon dioxide and water which appears in the exhaust gases (27) of the operating engine.
