A gene for rice NADH-dependent reductase or a modification thereof; a rice NADH-dependent reductase or an analogue thereof; a DNA or expression vector containing the gene or modification thereof and capable of expressing in microorganisms or plant cells; and a plant transformed by the expression vector or seeds thereof. By cultivating the transformed plant, it is possible to protect the plant from damages caused by disease bacteria.
