<p>At the transmitting end of a DAB system, a special programme guide file is produced and transmitted. The file contains text and images to be presented to the user as well as data invisible to the user, intended only for the application software of the receiver. As receivers may have displays of different types, ranging from an alphanumeric display for a few characters to a VGA display, it is proposed that a new element be added to the data invisible to the user, an element used to separately mark up graphics and text passages that are to be displayed on a display of a given type. The display type is indicated by means of an attribute associated with the element. An attribute is also used to specify whether an original long text is to be replaced with a short text or a voice annoucement.</p> |
