The electronic monitoring system has an aerial (20) and a transmitter for producing microwave signals, and a receiver for detecting echo signals. A duplexer (6) is connected with, the transmitter and the receiver, and further conducts the echo signal from the aerial to the receiver. The duplexer is designed as a microwave bridge, and for suppressing the fixed signal, being connected with a reactive load (9) arranged to be controllable in the compensation loop. The receiver for the frequency conversion of the echo signal has an oscillator (1) and a signal mixer (8) connected at the input side from the oscillator. A control unit (10) is connected before the controllable reactive load, for the adjustment of the phase and the amount in the compensation loop.
