There is provided a new and useful winch (10) comprising a cable drum (12); a motor (20) operatively connected to drive a cable drum (12); a fall arrestor (90) operatively connected to a cable drum (12) and having no power input requirement and a gear reduction group (32) through which a motor (20) and fall arrestor (90) are operatively connected to a cable drum (12).
