<p>A sampling and assay device comprises a tubular enclosure (10) which is provided adjacent one end with one or more transverse barriers (19) to form separate compartments for respective chemical components. The device further comprises a sample swab (20) at least partially disposed within a cap-shaped shuttle (24). The swab is arranged to be moved longitudinally of the tubular enclosure to correspondingly displace the shuttle (24) and rupture the barrier or barriers (19) in order to mix the chemical components.</p> |
