<p>A process of preparing alkyl or aryl aldehydes using Grignard protected aldehydes and alkyl or benzyl halides is provided. The Grignard protected aldehyde is reacted with the halide in the presence of a copper catalyst and the product of that reaction is selectively deprotected by hydrolysis.</p> |
