To transmit data from a transmitter (1) to a number of portable terminals (7) with a telecommunications system, the terminals (7) have no more than four operating keys (15, 16, 17). The electronic system in the terminals comprises only a processor board (23) with operating memory, a graphics processor (27), a modem (8), a mass store (26) and a power supply (21). The terminals (7) are in addition provided with a reading unit (25) for reading a user's authorisation ID.
