The protrusions extend from one or more sides of the block, and typically run along one or more sections of the block edges. The block can have front and rear plates (13,11), of which the protrusions are extensions. Teeth can be formed in the block top surface, extending for its full length. There can also be hollow sections in the block, extending between the top and bottom surfaces. The front and rear plates and one of the end plates can be clear of the block, extending above the top surface and being set back from the bottom one, or vice-versa. The front or rear plate engages in the end-face of an adjacent block.
