The safety belt device has an anchor element (3) fitted to the upper part of a vehicle upright post (1). It includes an impact absorption element (10) fitted to the post. This element is held across from the outside to the inside of the vehicle compartment. The absorption element is deformable in the direction from the inside towards the outside. There is a connector (7) to connect the impact absorption element to the anchor element. A spacer (12) is fitted between the absorption element and the anchor element, to hold the anchor element away from the post.
