A navigation system comprising: a current position detection unit for detecting a current position of an appropriate vehicle; an information storage unit for storing map information for conducting route search and route guidance and other route information; an input unit for inputting a destination and inputting an instruction for executing route search from a current position detected by the current position detection unit to the destination; an output unit for outputting information for route guidance; and a central processing unit for temporarily memorizing a route detected by route search from the current position to the destination based on the map information and outputting a signal for conducting route guidance according to the memorized route to the output unit, the central processing unit judging whether or not the information storage unit is replaced and if when the information storage unit is replaced, a guidance route in which a guidance up to a destination has not been terminated is memorized, conducting route search from the current position to the destination. <IMAGE>
