<p>Apparatus for determining whether an input coin 1 is acceptable and for distinguishing between acceptable coins comprises, capacitor means 73,75, inductor means 71, guide means 3 to guide the coin past the capacitor means to affect its capacitance, and past the inductor means to affect its inductance depending on the magnetic qualities of the coin, oscillator means for providing an oscillating output signal the frequency of which is affected by the capacitance of the capacitor means and the inductance of the inductor means, and decision means for receiving the oscillating output signal and making a decision on the basis of the frequency thereof whether the coin is acceptable and, if so, which of a plurality of acceptable coins it is.</p> |
