The seat support beam (1) and carrier frame (5) are pin-jointed (2,4,9,11) to a lifting arm( (3) and parallel arm (10). An electrical actuator (7) is pin-jointed (6,2) to the frame (5) and lifting arm (3). It extends and contracts to raise and lower the seat. The parallel arm (10) ensures that the seat attitude is unaltered. Sprockets and a chain can be used to achieve the same result as the 4-bar chain described. A worm-and-wheel drive to one sprocket can also vary the seat height. The seat swivels around the vertical axis (12) on the undercarriage (13).
