<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unnecessitate a bar code and to enhance management capability and yet to reduce the cost. SOLUTION: A nonvolatile memory is incorporated in a tape cassette 1, and is stored with information about a library. Plural tape cassette 1 are housed in racks 30. Recording/reproducing device 32a-32c for recording/reproducing data are provided for the tape cassettes 1. The tape cassette 1 is carried between its rack 30 and the recording/reproducing device 32a-32c by a cassette carrier mechanism 31. The rack 30 is provided with a connector to be combined with a terminal led out of a memory of the tape cassette 1. By housing the tape cassette 1 in the direction of the terminal led out of the memory of the tape cassette 1 into the rack 30, the terminal led out of the memory is combined with the connector. Since management of the tape library is performed by using the nonvolatile memory incorporated in the tape cassette 1, plenty of information about the tape library can be stored, and hence management capability can thus be enhanced.</p> |
