PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly control the driving of an ink jet head, in an ink cartridge equipped with a medium having data controlling a recording apparatus, by imparting trigger data selecting a condition for stabilizing the formation of ink droplets emitted from a recording head to the medium. SOLUTION: When the terminals 19a, 19b of a medium 19 provided to the ink cartridge 51 mounted on an ink jet recording apparatus and the pin terminals 20a, 20b on the side of the apparatus are electrically connected to close a power supply, the resistance value of the medium 19 is read and data (trigger data selecting a condition for stabilizing the formation of emitted ink droplets) is read from a data table corresponding to the read value. The read data is transferred to a drive RAM and a recording head is driven according to a predetermined table. Further, it is judged whether printing is possible or there is a printing signal and, when there is the printing signal and printing is possible, printing is performed. |
