SOLUTION: This new human vacuolar ATPase(14-kDa subunit) gene contains a base sequence having amino acid sequence represented by the formula and is capable of utilizing for expression and detection of human vacuolar ATPase(14-kDa subunit) and useful for diagnosis of various kinds of diseases in which the enzyme participates, elucidation of symptom, screening and evaluation, etc., of treating and preventing medicines and human vacuolar ATPase(14-kDa subunit) is useful as a preventing and treating agent for neuropathy and an enhancing agent for anticancer agents, etc. The gene is obtained by carrying out 5'-lace method of one clone randomly selected from human fetal brain cDNA library and supplementing the lost 5' region.
