PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high speed inexpensive three-color laser beam source having high resolving power and long life for exposing a usual photosensitive member as the light source of a color image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: In a color image forming apparatus having light channels 12, 14, 16 of three colors of blue, green and red in order to record an image on a photosensitive member 42, LEDs(light emitting diodes) 18, 20, 22 are used as the light sources of the respective light channels. Especially, the LED 20 using gallium nitride(GaN) as material is used to constitute a green light channel or an LED using indium.gallium.aluminum.phosphorus(InGaAl P) as a material is used to constitute the green light channel to obtain an inexpensive light source of long life having sufficient light intensity and capable of forming an image of high resolving power at a high speed. |
