PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the production per unit time of a blood separating agent having excellent storage stability. SOLUTION: A mixed solution consisting of a principal component composed of a separating layer forming high polymer compound and a thixotropic property giving agent selected from fine inorganic particles or an organic gelling agent is supplied to the cylinder block section 2 of a homogenizer 1 having the cylinder block section 2 equipped with a plunger 5 which can be moved forward and backward and a bubble body section equipped with a homogenzing valve, a valve sheet, and an impact ring which are successively provided to the cylinder block section 2. Then a blood separating agent composed of a dispersed liquid or a homogeneous gelled substance is obtained by applying compressive and shearing stresses to the mixed solution at a temperature at which the viscosity of the mixed solution in the homogenizer 1 becomes <=1×10<4> centipoise.
