PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent mis-discrimination of black/white levels through MTF correction by not conducting the MTF correction for noise or dust or the like so as to avoid undesired emphasis. SOLUTION: A counter 25 count number of signals outputted from a 1st comparator 24 when a difference between signal levels of each of adjacent picture elements A-D, F-I outputted from a level difference detector 22 with respect to a noted picture element E is higher than a threshold level of a 1st threshold level generator 23, and when the counts are 2-6, an image signal E' of the noted picture element E processed by an MTF correction computing element 26 is compared with a threshold level of a 2nd threshold level generator 23 and when the counts are 1, 7, 8, an image signal E without any modification is compared with the threshold level of the 2nd threshold level generator 23, and the result of comparison indicates a binarized output at a 2nd comparator 29. |
