PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining the position of a vehicle in the traveling plane in which computation can be executed quickly and favorably, in which the position can be determined precisely. SOLUTION: When the position of a vehicle 1 in its traveling plane is determined with a laser beam which is emitted from a sensor carried on the vehicle 1, which advances in parallel with the traveling plane and which scans a range of nearly 360 deg., the reflection of the laser beam in at least two fixed reference points is processed by a light receiving device and a computer. In addition, the reference points are composed of marks 2, 3 whose number is limited and which can be recognized. The marks 2, 3 are identified in such a way that every width and every angle of irradiation of the marks 2, 3 are determined and that the distance between the marks and the sensor is then determined. The dispersion of the position of the vehicle 1 is computed by the well-known dispersion of azimuth anglesα,βand by the position of the measured marks 2, 3 with reference to the sensor, and it is used to correct the evaluation value of the position of the vehicle 1. |
