PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a laser texture machining industrially advantageously for a magnetic recording medium by providing a beam forming means, which adjusts the ratio of a major radius to a minor radius to a specific range for a laser profile, in a section from an oscillation source to a substrate. SOLUTION: A semiconductor laser module 2 contains a semiconductor laser beam oscillation source 20, collimator lens 21-A that obtains a parallel beam bundle of rays from a laser beam emitted from an oscillation source 20, and an objective lens 22 as a converging mechanism for converging the parallel light beams. In addition, the device is provided with a cylindrical lens 21-B as a beam forming means which forms an irradiating laser beam pattern on a substrate 3 whose range of the ratio of a major radius to a minor radius is 1.0 to 1.5; the cylindrical lens 21-B is installed at an arbitrary position on a way that a light beam outputted from the laser beam oscillation source reaches the substrate 3. |
