[Also in Division F2] A part 37, Fig. 8, e.g. a machine-tool slide is supported on another part 32, e.g. a bed, for rectilinear movement thereon by guide elements 35, 36 having similar cross-sections, e.g. triangular with or without the pointed tips removed, the crests of the elements on each part lying in one plane. Other cross-sections are shown in Figs. 3-5. The contacting surfaces of the guide elements are lubricated by wicks 43<SP>1</SP> depending into a reservoir 45 of lubricant. Slide 37 which may carry a turret is located by members 39 and the contacting surfaces 39<SP>1</SP> are lubricated by wicks 40<SP>1</SP>. In a modification, lubricant is supplied under pressure through a bore 57, Fig. 11, and passes through spaced bores 58 to lateral grooves 59 and also through spaced bores 53 to the contacting surfaces 54 of the locating member 51 on the slide 50 and the bed 52. |
