<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely divide a cathode-ray tube in a short time by forming a groove for division to the corner of a tube, after heating of the cathode-ray tube. SOLUTION: A cathode-ray tube 200 is carried onto a support board 24, and the centering of the tube 200 to a support means 10 is performed. Next, the tube 200 is positioned in the specified position by a vertical motion mechanism 11 into such condition that it is surrounded by four heater wires 71-74. Then, the peripheries of the flanks of the four sides of the tube 200 are heated to give thermal distortion to these sections. Next, by the motion of the vertical motion mechanism 11, the four corners of the tube 200 are put to correspond to four rotating cutters 51. Then, by the operation of a motor, grooves (or flaws) 300 are made at the four corners, using each cutter 51. A crack is developed between the adjacent grooves 300 and 300, and the tube 200 is divided instantaneously into a fan part and a panel part.</p> |
