PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver oxide small in contents of chlorine, sulfur and alkali and most suitable for a battery capable of obtaining high voltage. SOLUTION: The silver oxide <=20ppm in each content of chlorine and sulfur, <=30ppm in alkali content, 5-20μm in the average particle diameter of primary particle, 1.4-2.5g/cm<3> in bulk density and most suitable for the battery is obtained by pressure-aging the fine particle of silver oxide or silver peroxide, which is obtained from precipitates formed by mixing a silver salt with an alkaline solution, in the condition of <=pH11, 2-20kg/cm<2> pressure and 80-250 deg.C heating temp.
