PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To intuitively grasp a driving route and a course guidance by three- dimensionally displaying roads, buildings, seene of intersections, etc. SOLUTION: Three-dimensional digital road map data base 2 is provided with polygon data to three-dimensionally display roads and buildings, etc. An image generation processing part 5 works out a map display range based on its own car position data and the display aspect selection data supplied through whole motion control part 4, and reads the road data to be displayed and the polygon data of the buildings, and does a transformation into an aspect coordinate system and a perspective and projecting transformation, and generates an image to be displayed. By selecting a line of sight, a plane map, a bird's-eye view, and a guiding map of an intersection viewed from the vehicle can be generated. The generated map, bird's-eye view, and guiding map are composited in image at need and displayed by an image display unit 9. |
