PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the adhesion of sprayed coating, while a roll is rotated in the circumferential direction of a barrel, by heating and softening its surface by high frequency heating and executing thermal spraying. SOLUTION: While a roll 7 is rotated in the circumferential direction of a barrel, the opposite side of the roll is heated by a high frequency induction heating work coil 8. In the surface part of the roll 7, hardness reduces, and it is softened. Cermet, ceramics or metallic atoms in a thermal spraying material 6 eat into the surface of the roll 7, and, by an anchor effect, the adhesion of sprayed coating improves. Since high frequency heating is adopted, only the surface of the roll 7 is heated in a short time, and, as for the inside of the roll 7, heating is not executed to prevent the generation of thermal distortion in the roll 7. In accordance with the movement of a thermal spraying gun 1, the high frequency heating work coil 8 is moved in the width direction of the roll 7, and the whole body in the width direction of the roll 7 is applied with thermal spraying. Its durability can be improved while the function of the roll 7 is securely shown. |
