The hoist climbs a mast, which is made up from sections connected together. It has a platform (4), and is propelled by a motor with a rack-and-pinion drive. Individual mast sections are connected to each other using bolts (7) and nuts (8).Each section has a bolting element (6) on its upper end, which pivots about an axis (12) between a connecting position and an unconnected position. When in the unconnected position, the element, or a component which is attached to it, lies in the path of a sensor (14) which stops the motor, and which lies outside this path when in the connecting position
