摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a org. nonlinear optical material which has a large degree of orientation of quadratic nonlinear molecules and has nonlinearity stable over a long period of time by consisting this material of a high polymer dispersed or bonded with nonlinear molecules which have a plane structure and of which the main axis direction of the quadratic superpolarization rate is perpendicular to the plane. SOLUTION: This org. nonlinear optical material consists of the high-polymer film dispersed or bonded with the nonlinear molecules (guests) which have the plane structure and of which the main axis direction of the quadratic superpolarization rateβis perpendicular to the plane in the polyimide thin film (host) oriented with the high-polymer chains in the intra-surface direction of the thin film. The org. nonlinear optical element material contg. the molecules (nonlinear molecules) which have the quadratic superpolarization rateβand have the non-rotationally symmetry of the plane structure in the org. high polymer (host polymer) of >=0.13 in the difference (refractive index anisotropy)▵n between the refractive index in the direction where the refractive index is max. and the refractive index in the direction where the refractive index is min. is more preferable.
