PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the synthesis of a font pattern be in time for the start of image formation when the font pattern is changed by specifying the repetition number of times of horizontal scanning and vertical scanning in reading font characters and repeatedly reading and synthesizing a desired font synthesis pattern to the entire image surface. SOLUTION: In the case of a processing such as confidential copying, many font character patterns to be synthesized are repetitive patterns for several characters each in the horizontal scanning and vertical scanning. Then, the repetition number of times at the time of horizontal scanning and vertical scanning in reading character for synthesizing it is specified and the desired font synthesis pattern is repeatedly read and synthesized to the entire image surface.
