MANUFACTURE OF GRAVURE PRINTING PLATE BY PHOTOSENSITIVE POLYMER AND GRAVURE PRINTING PLATE OBTAINED BY IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a gravure printing plate capable of digital recording with IR laser and having superior reproducibility by development with water or an aq. alcoholic medium by successively subjecting an IR sensitive layer to laser beam ablation, uniform exposure with chemical rays, development with water or a water-alcohol mixture and drying after a protective film is peeled off. SOLUTION: A dividing layer interposable between a layer crosslinkable with chemical rays and an IR sensitive layer is permeable to oxygen. The IR sensitive layer has an optical density of >=2.5 in the range of chemical rays and consists of a film forming polymer binder soluble or decomposable in water or a water-alcohol mixture and one or more kinds of substances finely dispersed in the binder, absorbing IR and having high absorbance in the wavelength range of 750-20,000nm. The IR sensitive layer is subjected to laser beam ablation, uniformly exposed with chemical rays, developed with water or a water-alcohol mixture and dried as usual after a protective film is peeled off.
