A bobbin holding device for a'yarn winding machine comprises an elongated support 1 to each end of which there is connected a bobbin holder 3, the support being pivotable about its central point so as to bring the bobbins in turn into a position in which yarn may be wound thereon, the bobbin holders each being pivotable with respect to the support from an inoperative position (I in Fig. 1) to an operative position (II in Fig. 1) and vice versa, each being furnished with means adapted automatically to secure a bobbin placed on the holder, when in its operative position, as the holder is pivoted into its operative position, and to release the bobbin again as the holder is pivoted back to its inoperative position. In the arrangement shown each holder 3 is pivoted to the support 1 by a pin 4 which has a cam surface 15 actuating on a rod 13 which is held against the cam surface 15 by spring 162. Movement of the rod 13 on rotation of the holder 3 about the pin 4 causes corresponding movement of a cap 161 which acts on elastic discs 9 and 10 to cause them to engage a bobbin 8 or disengage therefrom according to the direction of movement. Locking means 6 are provided for locking the bobbin holders in either of their end positions and adjustable stops 7 may be provided to adjust the operative position of the bobbin holders. |
