TREATMENT OF MANGANESE-CONTAINING RAW MATERIAL

FIELD: production of useful components by geotechnological and hydrometallurgical methods; at concentrating mills, in particular, at extraction of manganese from manganese-containing raw material with production of solutions of manganese sulfates. SUBSTANCE: sulfuric- acid leaching of manganese-containing raw material with a different state of oxidation is accomplished with a feed to the process of sulfur dioxide at natural temperature after roasting of pyrite of sulfuric-acid production taken in ratio of SOto the content of Mnin the source material equal to 1.75÷2.5:1. Cleaning of solutions of manganese sulfates is accomplished by blow-off of residual content of SOfrom suspension (pulp) with air with subsequent precipitation of impurities by alkali-containing components at pH=4.5 to 7.0. The quantity of sulfuric acid should not exceed the stoichiometric one with respect to soluble components of manganese-containing raw material. The roasting process temperature (75+-5 C) is attained by supply of sulfuric dioxide at a temperature of 80 to 100 C to suspension (pulp). Suspension (pulp) is mixed with sulfuric dioxide in an ejection mixer. The process of precipitation of impurities is effected at residual temperature of suspension pulp equal to 40 to 70 C. EFFECT: enhanced degree of extraction of manganese, exclusion of expenditures on heating, and deeper cleaning of solutions of manganese sulfate from impurities. 5 cl, 1 dwg, 2 tbl
