The security device includes two double half-plates made of metal which are intended to fit around the vehicle steering wheel. These may be fitted to an existing vehicle, or may be incorporated into the design of a new vehicle. The metal plates are magnetised in opposite senses so that they may be fitted to the steering wheel and retain their position. The plates (2) are connected by two wires (4) which are linked both to the steering column and the vehicle dashboard in an alarm circuit. These may be associated both with a visible indication, and an audible alarm siren. The system may be covered with a sleeve, and may include alternative fixings provided by hooked pile fasteners.
