COATING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating process capable of applying easily and economically to a contour of every kind and imparting a permanent protective film over various heat environments. SOLUTION: A composite structural member is attached to the inside of a vacuum chamber having an opening part and the opening part is sealed by a coating composite consisting of a continuous layer composed of a heat- activable adhesive having glass transition temp. lower than about 20 deg.C and the predetermined tensile modulus elasticity and the continuous film of dry paint on the continuous layer so that the heat-activable adhesive layer communicates with the surface of the composite structural member and the vacuum chamber is reduced in pressure to apply heat capable of subjecting the coating composite to vacuum-heat forming but insufficient to activate the heat-activable adhesive layer. Next, the adhesive layer is exposed to heat sufficient to activate the heat-activable adhesive layer and cooled while reduced pressure is kept.
