Remotely controlled vacuum cleaner

The vacuum cleaner can be operated from a distance by a remote control unit which influences a pair of sensors within the body of the cleaner so that the independently operated side wheels drive the cleaner backwards and forwards as well as from side to side. The vacuum cleaner body is moved on the floor by a pair of large wheels (11) driven by electric motors (31), speed reduction units (35) toothed belts (32) and pulleys (33,34). Receiving sensors (41), reacting to signals from a remote control unit, govern the motor speeds. An electric motor (22) and fan (26) provide the suction to the chamber (20), through a filter (19), which has an inlet aperture and facility to connect a hose. Air is exhausted through another aperture (18). Rotary brushes (24) are also provided.
