The hydraulic unit has an annular pressure medium container (10), with inner and outer cylindrical walls (11,12) and 2 end flanges (13,14), enclosing an air-cooled electric motor (35) used to drive a hydropump (50). The pressure medium container surrounds the electric motor at a narrow relative spacing, its inner wall (12) acting as a guide for directing the cooling airstream across the motor. The inner wall of the pressure medium container may have a number of axial guide ribs in the space enclosing the electric motor.
