The device has a sensor with double bending beams (14,14',15,15'). At one end the beams are bound to a foot section (18,18'), at the other to a head section (19). One section is fixed, the other deflected by the traction force of the thread (28) or yarn which rotates over the thread turning device (22). The measurement parameter associated with the thread force is the bending present on the beam. The housing (11) has a measurement collar (22) as the thread turning device. The housing also has a central bearing (43) for rigidly fastening to the machine frame. The housing is arranged to be radially deflected relative to the central bearing.
