Collision determination device for car air bag

The device determines collisions for the air bag of a car according to a signal from an acceleration sensor (1). A signal integrator (3) integrates a range of the signals from the acceleration sensor lying below first response threshold. A measuring device (4) determines a collision when the output of the signal generator lies above a predetermined value. The integrator may, instead, integrate those signals which lie above a second threshold. Alternatively, the integrator may integrate those signals falling between the first and second thresholds. The signals from the acceleration sensor may be integrated at given intervals. An integral of the signal from the acceleration sensor may be suppressed when the signal signalises a delay and lies below the second threshold value.
