The present invention relates to a method and to an arrangement for aligning a waveguide connector (1) for physical contact with at least one optical device having at least one waveguide (15). The arrangement includes the waveguide connector (1) and a substrate (10) on which waveguides (15) are disposed. The waveguide connector (1) and the substrate (10) include aligning elements (2, 4). These aligning elements (2, 4) can be shaken into mutual engagement. The aligning elements are disposed so that when an optical device having an MTinterface is brought into contact with the waveguide connector (1), the waveguides (15) and the optical device will be in alignment with one another.
