A novel candle has (a) a wick (33) which is twisted or has one or more twisted filaments for storing torque which is released as the candle body (35) burns; (ii) a wick with flat faces which extend in a spiral in the wick length direction; or (iii) a wick which extends in a spiral manner in the candle body.
