<p>A self-pierce rivet includes a shank (25, 26, 27, 44) and a head (21, 22, 23, 24, 43) at one end of the shank. The other end of the shank of the rivet is provided with an axially extending slot (11, 46). The head is non-circular and is formed with substantially mutually perpendicular major and minor dimensions, the minor dimension of the head extending substantially parallel to the slot (11, 46). The shank (25, 26, 27, 44) of the rivet may be provided with a central hole (9, 45) extending from the free end of the shank towards the head (21, 22, 23, 24, 43). The head (21, 22, 23, 24, 43) of the rivet may be substantially rectangular.</p> |
