Transfer press line

The line is made up of closely spaced presses (1) for the production of large sheet-metal components in several steps, and a station (8) for component intermediate storage and orientation. Transfer of components takes place by means of cross beams (15,16) which are provided with suction cups or grippers, and run along longitudinal beams extending over the entire press line. Each press has a table (7) which is movable across the component transport direction, and serves for tool-changing purposes. The length of the transport step between the press (1) and the storage station (8) is equal to or only slightly greater than half the width of the tool clamping area plus the maximum width of the component (measured in its transport direction). The width of the table (7) corresponds to the width of the tool clamping area, and to the clear opening between the press columns.
