Mechanical inertia sensitive sensor and trigger device for vehicle security system

The device has inertia mass (2) held by spring. Release lever (3) is rotatably mounted at one end with lever bearing (14) and at other end is supported by lever support (16) on mass perpendicular to deflection direction (7). System also has spring to bias lever. Strike rod (5) is actuated by movement of release lever. Impact cartridge (6) is arranged to activate vehicle security system. Mass is deflected over predetermined trigger delay time, over more than one trigger length from rest position, to over lever support locating area (12). Release lever is released and strike rod actuated. The release lever has strike surface (13) near lever bearing direction (7), directed opposite deflection direction of mass. The strike bar has carrier (4) which lies on strike surface. The rod carrier is held by an impact spring (9) such that by selecting appropriate strength of spring, angle of strike surface, friction between mass and its locating point, and distance from this point to pivot point and support point of lever, lever support force on mass is small. When mass is deflected, release lever is freed and with strike surface pivots out of path of strike bar carrier to activate security system.
