The shoe (3) is supported on a bar and its toe is gripped by another device. The device used to grip the toe of the shoe and apply pressure to it is a cushion (9) with at least part of its surface area formed from a flexible wall serving as a contact area with the toe. The cushion is filled with fluid to apply pressure to the toe. The cushion is carefully designed to fulfil its intended function.
