<p>A bucket (100) for a swinging bucket centrifuge rotor (10) includes a cylindrical body (104) having a pair of planar abutments (114A, 114B). The abutments (114A, 114B) are diametrically disposed on the body (104) with respect to the axis (100A) thereof. A slot (118A, 118B) is formed between a portion of each abutment (114A, 114B) and the body (104) of the bucket (100). Each abutment (114A, 114B) has a first groove (126) that extends parallel to the axis (100A) of the body (104) and a second groove (128) that extends perpendicular to the axis (100A) of the body (104). The first (126) and second (128) grooves communicate with the slot (118A, 118B) and with the slot (118A, 118B) define a resilient spring element (132) on each abutment (114A, 114B). A bottom support surface (124) on each abutment (114A, 114B) is cylindrical in shape, whereby a portion of each bottom support surface (124) lies on opposite sides of the axis (100A) of the body (104).</p> |
