An hydraulic mounting comprises a resilient elastomeric body 14 interconnecting an inner rigid member (11) and an outer rigid member (13) to allow relative movements in an axial direction (X-X) and in first and second transverse directions which are mutually perpendicular to one another and said axial direction. Two interconnected fluid chambers (15) are disposed at opposite sides of a division plane which contains said axis (X-X). In the vicinity of each fluid chamber (15) is at least one elastomeric web portion (21,21') which deforms substantially only in shear when the rigid members move relative to one another in a first transverse direction which is substantially perpendicular to said division plane and the elastomeric body being loaded substantially only in shear during said relative movement.
