The compressor housing (5) of the charger has an inner wall covering section (5c) which lies adjacent to the turbine wheel (4b). This cover is made from a material which is softer than the material from which the turbine wheel is made. The cover is attached to the housing with screws (7b). The cover incorporates a flange which makes intimate contact with the housing at the point at which it is attached to it. The cylindrical section (5b) of the cover leaves a number of gaps (G1,G4) between it and the housing which allow for differential expansion between housing and cover.
