The domestic appliance, with an electronic program control, has a semiconductor component or relays to switch the electrical components on and off. If a failure is detected at the semiconductor unit or the relays, the safety system disconnects the electrical component (5) from the power supply. The safety switch (3) also detects a water overflow and disconnects the water feed valve (4) and the program control (6) from the power supply.
