Producing a pleated filter insert comprises placing a pleated filter pack in a tool, filling the residual space in the tool with liquid polymeric material to form a frame enclosing the pack and then solidifying the material. One or more peripheral, elastically deformable sealing lips (6), consisting of the material of the frame (5), are produced and solidified together with the frame. Preferably, the frame (5) and the sealing lip (6) are made from polypropylene, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene and/or polyester.
